The Blog Starts Rolling

This is at least somewhat in the nature of a test, but also a chance to introduce myself- Eric the Red or Leif the Lucky? I go by Felicis and a large part of the attraction of mathematics for me is in the interplay of language and logic. These are ultimately philosophical ideas, and I have long thought of mathematics as ‘applied philosophy’, creating the (admittedly artificial) sequence: philosophy; mathematics; physics; chemistry; biology…

  1. I agree. I think all scientific inquiry is essentially a subset of Philosophy. Maybe we could well order the whole shebang by inclusion! Take the power-set of all philosophy, and it HAS to have some kind of well ordering, no? :0
